He is currently chairman of Casey Butcher Ventures, Orchard Lake, MI. Casey Butcher Ventures is a management counseling and communications firm. Clients include the Detroit Free Press. The son of Irish immigrants, Patrick and Ellen Casey, he always did well in school. He showed responsibility and an attraction for communications at an early age working as a newspaper delivery and copy boy. A graduate of the University of Toledo, Ohio, he went on to serve in the military. He may have showed too much ability, as he was quickly promoted to higher rank and ended up directing his fellow recruits. Since 1966, Casey has been a political and public affairs analyst on radio and television. He is often interviewed by local and national news media on a range of subjects, including public opinion, public relations, economic and social issues. He is frequently sought after as a public speaker and is author of numerous articles. Casey has had many different positions in the communications field. He has been a newspaper reporter, governmental official, campaign manager, partner in a public relations firm, founder of one of the nations largest public relations firms and a political and public opinion analyst for Michigan and national news media. In 1990 he completed the sale of his firm, Casey Communications Management, Inc., Southfield, Michigan, to Shandwick PLC of London, the worlds largest public relations firm. Jack Casey has always cared about the social issues and inequities in America. While President of Casey Communications he spearheaded the national seat belt use campaign, which even today saves millions of lives every year. He was highly involved in giving a voice to minorities and running political campaigns for prominent African American's, such as Richard Austin, Michigans Secretary of State, and Coleman Young, the first African American Mayor of Detroit. He was also involved in the campaigns of senatorial and presidential candidates. Casey is a member of the Public Relations Society of America
and former president of the Detroit chapter. He is a member of the College
of Fellows of the national organization and in 1994 became charter inductee
of the Detroit Chapters Public Relations Hall of Fame. Casey was married to his first wife, Ursula Romaker, until
1975. They had four children together Michael, Gretchen, John and Patrick.
As one might expect, all four children run He and his wife Mary Lou Butcher live in Orchard Lake, Michigan and also have a home in Rancho Mirage, California. |
